According to most automotive manufacturers, it’s recommend to have oil and filter change done at different mileage intervals. To be safe, a rule of thumb is to change the oil and oil filter every 3000 miles, or every 3 months. If you’re using new synthetic oil, this service can be done at longer mileage intervals. Please, refer to the owner’s manual for proper service intervals.
Your instrument panel (dashboard) should always light up upon start up. This is a test to check that all bulbs are working, but if the check engine light stays on there is a potential major problem, and you should bring it in right away.
If you notice a decrease in fuel mileage, your car may be running rough. This may be an indication that your car is ready for a tune-up.
